About the National Building & Construction Awards

The National Building & Construction Awards are run by SME Nationals, the Towcester-based team behind a number of UK business awards programmes. The awards cover 21 categories across the building and construction sector, from main contracting and trades through to sustainability and people development, with entries assessed by a national panel of judges.

Contractor of the Year entries are split by contract value, so businesses are compared against others operating at a similar scale rather than against much larger national contractors. Reaching the final in the up to £5m band puts Southern Projects among the strongest performing contractors nationally at that size.

A year of external recognition

The finalist place follows a run of external validation for Southern Projects. In 2025 the business was awarded Gold in the NFRC Health, Safety and Environment in Roofing Awards, with a special mention for workforce engagement. Earlier this year it was appointed to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s scaffolding framework, covering commercial, site housing and domestic works. The NBCA finalist place adds to that track record.
